Black Friday has always been a thoroughly American phenomena, but increasingly we find ourselves in other countries celebrating it as well. The first day of the Christmas shopping season, it’s become the day that retailers heavily discount their wares and millions of shoppers take to their cars to pack the roads and shops to hunt down the biggest bargains for goods they probably don’t need. So fevered are the malls and so deep the price cuts that some shoppers will resort to extreme violence to bag a cheap TV for the bathroom. I’ve experienced the full-on caffeinated horror of a Black Friday and can confirm that it is both wonderful and utterly depressing.
Thankfully for most of us in the old world, Black Friday is purely an online thing. If you’re a Steam user, you will already be familiar with the hefty discounts that cycle around at this time of year. The unfortunate thing is that should you indulge your inner gamer and buy all the games you would never have bought at full price, a year from now you will likely find yourself with a virtual stack of games that have never been played. Better instead, perhaps, to hunt down a TV for the bathroom. Or maybe a stack of EONs to read while changing channels.
Yes, that’s right, we’re unashamedly getting in on the Thanksgiving action by discounting everything we’re ever produced to 50%. That’s every issue of EON – including the current issue, the ISK guide, EVE Strategic Maps and the poster pack for half price. Even the perma-discounted half-price mega-bundle is 50% off, meaning you can buy every issue of EON ever produced in one go for a quarter of the original cover price. If you just have a couple of gaps in your collection (Issue #015 was rather overlooked, I feel) now is a great time to fill them. You can even subscribe to the magazine for the next year at half price, by which time Black Friday 2012 will be upon us and we might be running the same offer!
All you need to do to take advantage of this KER-RAZY offer is enter the Promo Code EONBF50 (just don’t forget to hit ‘apply’) when paying at the EVE Store checkout. Note that the code doesn’t apply to EON subscriptions, but these have been discounted to $28 which amounts to the same saving. Also be aware that discounts don’t extend to postage and packing costs, but at least you don’t have to brave the holiday traffic.
The EON Black Friday offer will last for one week, with prices reverting back on December 1st. Tell the world, tweet your friends.
UPDATE: The issue with subscriptions being charged at normal rates is now fixed. Subs have been discounted to reflect 50% saving. We are in the process of refunding those that were overcharged.
